10 Day Powder Forecast!
Updated at 4am on November 6th
Heavy snow will blast the Sierra today (10-15 inches expected over 7,000 feet) and a band light snow will continue over central Colorado this morning after a good 7-10 inches has fallen in many areas (Aspen, Vail Pass,, Silverton) according to snowtel sites and observations. Wolf Creek is reporting 12 inches new and 95% open! Light to moderate snow will break out over the 4 corners of Colorado late tonight into Monday bringing additional accumulations to Northern Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern Colorado by late Monday (4-7).
The big news is that the Northwest gets very active by Friday next week and the models are showing moderate to heavy precipitation and very cold air moving down the coast by next Saturday into the Central Sierra of California, and eventually into Utah and Colorado over the weekend. The path at this point looks to favor Central California, Northern Washington, British Columbia, and eventually a good portion of Utah and Colorado (South might be favored?). It looks like moisture might continue over the Rockies into the beginning of the following week. The Pacific Northwest might see snow in the foothills by Saturday!
Please keep the Powder Buzz Going and get psyched for more snow and what appears to be a great start to the 2011-2012 season. The chase will start soon! Please post your observations.
