Hey there, heading to Vancouver then Whistler on the 10th of March…trying to follow the snow after that through the month…thoughts on whistler then and powder highway beyond..? The option of going south could be available. Your time and consideration is much appreciated.March 8, 2017 at 9:36 pm #8364
I am on a chase and will respond soon. This week will be decent for whistler but warming temps. 5-10 cm every 24 hours with rain at the base. More laterMarch 9, 2017 at 8:18 pm #8369
Your best bet will likely be to stay in Whistler. Numerous systems will enter the PNW but a ridge of the Western US will be supplying warm air for the next several days into two weeks. Snow levels will be fluctuating throughout this period with rain at the base at times and high density snow at higher elevations. There will be a brief cool down this weekend before temps rise again early next week. Interior BC may benefit from higher base elevations but the moisture will be less significant. For better snow quality interior BC would be the better choice. Most of the Western US looks to stay dry with the ridge in place except for the Northern Rockies where the southern edge of storms moving along the jet stream may bring some moisture. Temps will be warm though.

Appreciate your response. Current update for Whistler…flurries here and there for the last few days…warm temps at the base with periods of drizzle; Several inches of wet snow fell from mid mountain to summit. Seems like temps are going to be in flux the next few days. We are hoping to finish up strong until we leave on Thursday….just wondering though, any updates on your recommendations for the week going forward? We were thinking interior BC (Powder Highway), taking your recommendation and going with the possible better quality snow with less moisture content. Again, your time and consideration is much appreciated.March 18, 2017 at 5:45 pm #8400
This is Powderchaser Steve chiming in. Are you still up there? This weekend (Today) should be good for Whistler. Next week of March 20th looks best for Colorado and the Sierra. Sierra Tuesday (Mammoth) and Southern CO for Thursday. Next weekend looks deep but a bit warm for the northern Sierra. Does this help? Please donate to powderchasers to support our powder forecasts.
