Heavy Powder Warning continues for the Wasatch of Utah where over 40 inches has fallen in the past 4 days and another 16 inches overnight where the best conditions of the entire season are upon us. I beat the road closure at 5:30AM and can testify to the deep and moderate snowfall as of 8 am. The canyon road should open by 0830. I actually spent a few days going stir crazy watching the POW but stuck in New Mexico for a conference and avoided the weather maps. I think if I had seen a pic of Snowbird on Friday I would have quit my job and scurried back quicker or died of a heart attack. Sorry about the delay on this broadcast however keep reading for the extended forecast.
Extended:
It appears that several more storms will continue to impact the Rockies Tuesday-Thursday with periodic 4-8 inch dumps. These do not appear overly impressive however certainly enough to keep things fresh. This is the last week for Midweek lifts at Snowbird where they go to a weekend schedule starting on May 10th. Next week looks cold with a continued chance of snow! I officially transmit the epic alert so if you are not on the slopes you might want to consider some of the best May riding in history.
