POW Nowcast! Still snowing
Monday, 23 March 2009 21:01

Heavy snow fell in the Wasatch today where over 22 inches has piled up making everyone forget that Spring was ever here! Enough moisture fell in the Cottonwoods to erase most of the bumps on North Facing slopes. Vail had a total of 10 inches as of 4pm and reports from my spotters from the Sonnenalp (John and Jeremy) indicated a nasty crust layer created some pretty interesting conditions underneath. Radar looks like snow will continue moderately in the Northern and Central Mountains of Colorado through the night with perhaps 4-9 more inches of fresh for Tuesday morning. I would take Tuesday to be a powder day why not? I-70 is currently closed at Copper Mountain from what appears to be wild winds making for white out conditions! I would expect it to open by early AM as winds slowly subside.

Light snow will break out again Tuesday night before a decent chance of heavier snow moves back into the Rockies on Wednesday Night. This will be the last broadcast of the week so get out and enjoy mid winter conditions once again!
