Light snow is continuing over southern Colorado however with southerly winds the ski areas are only going to get 3-7 inches. If the winds shifted to the southwest or north you would see heavier amounts. Even Taos in New Mexico is reporting very light amounts. The good news for the Rockies is a series of storms beginning this weekend and again late next week!
snow will break out with the passage of a cold front in the Sierra on Friday night/Saturday with 4-8 inches possible at most of the Northern California resorts. In Utah/Idaho and Wyoming snow will begin late Saturday and continue into Sunday (Targhee, Jackson Hole, Snowbasin, Canyons, Alta ). Colorado will start to see snow on

After an extremely active week dumpage brininging over 90 inches to Mammouth and 70 inches to the Wasatch of Utah I can happily report that almost every State in the west now has areas over the 100 inch base mark! The winners are Mount Baker WA, Wolf Creek CO, Alta UT, Squaw Valley, Kirkwood and Mammoth. Silverton Mountain is just shy of the mark at 90 inches and might catch the goal by the end of this weekend. El Nino on steroids was an understatement last week.
Synopsis: Light to moderate snow will continue today in the Wasatch (3-6 inches) and eventually brush southern Colorado tonight with

El Nino continues to pound southern Colorado and the Wasatch with up to 50 inches in the past few days at many locations! Silverton Mountain opened to skiers around 2pm today with 50 inches of freshies and Wolf Creek nearly 100% open with the exception to much of the Backcountry thanks to the report from Charlie from Boulder (35 inches plus at Wolf Creek). Snow extended as far north as the Tetons where 4-9 inches has fallen during the day (Moderate snow will continue through Saturday PM). The wind shift to the West Northwest will happen in Utah late tonight enhancing

The Chase is on but unfortunately for me I am stuck in LA where heavy rains continue to flood many areas! Mammoth Mountain Ski area has recieved over 5 feet this week and should easily double that by Friday! The central and northern Sierra have recorded in the 18-24 inch range. Snowbird had 18 inches in just 16 hours yesterday where reports came in with epic conditions. Synopsis: The bulk of the storm will impact California tonight and tomorrow (2-3 additional feet of snow likely) and slowly move into Southern Colorado by Thursday afternoon. A swath of moisture over Nevada currently on radar should bless the Wasatch with another

Heavy snow will break out over the Sierra this week with snow levels in the 5-6,000 range gradually lowering as the week prorgreses. Amounts will vary dependant on elevation but my best guess for end of the week totals will be from 6-8 feet at upper elevations to less down low. The further south you go and West of highway 89 will see
