POWDER ALERT!
Thousands of Jackson Hole Locals including myself and a tribal Breckenridge chaser Josh Cooley waited in line today at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort from 6:30 AM to 12 Noon and grabbed the 1st tram of the day sending us down 4,000 feet on top of over 36 inches that has fallen there in the past 48 hours (Medium density at top and heavy towards the bottom) Jackson confirmed my Chase in 3 States in 3 Days (Crystal, Stevens Pass, Snowbird, and Jackson) and over 60 inches of powder during the period!
POWDER SYNOPSIS
The Sierra will finally pick up a deep dump tonight into Saturday late morning with high elevation snow (12-20 inches) at mid mountain and higher with only 6-12 inches towards the base. The Pacific Northwest sees another 7-14 inches of dense snow over 5,000 feet however rain/sleet mix at times lower down during the same period. The Tetons of Wyoming as well as most of Idaho and Utah will see steady wet snow beginning after midnight tonight to continue through Saturday (warmer temperatures) with strong winds and significantly increasing Avalanche dangers in the back-country. . The most snow will fall over the Tetons as well as the Northern Wasatch (Snowbasin, Powder Mountain- some rain mixed in at the base) during the day Saturday (9-11 inches) before a cold front drops down into Wyoming and Utah by 7 PM Saturday. This will drive cold air and a wind shift from Southwest to Northwest bringing light density heavy accumulations to Park City, Alta, Snowbird, Solitude where an additional 9-12 inches will fall Saturday night! The Tetons will pick up between 4-9 additional Light Density snow Saturday night! Sunday in my eyes would be a great chase for the Wasatch or even the Tetons however Utah will see more snow Saturday night where the Tetons get the most on Saturday prior to the cold air arriving. The key to the Sunday chase will be the lighter density snow!
Colorado: Moderate Snow will break out during the day Saturday in the San Juans, Crested Butte, Durango, Silverton) and turn heavier late in the day (6-10). Saturday night will see continued snows in Western Colorado however with the arrival of the cold air and wind shift to the Northwest late Saturday into Sunday morning I-70, Aspen, Vail, Beaver Creek, Steamboat, and areas into Summit County will see 11-16 inches (Especially in the Vail Valley and Aspen). Sunday will be the powder pick of the weekend for Colorado! Dry density snow will continue into Sunday evening before tapering off late. This is a broad open trough and will bring snow to most ski resorts Statewide however areas along I-70 including the Aspen Valley will be favored Saturday night. The Southern resorts including Crested Butte should do best during the day on Saturday with SW flow and will also see high end amounts!

Great! It looks like there is another 4 inches just since 4PM? CB is favored for the early part of the storm however most of the action will shift North after 11 PM
As of 8 p.m. tonight it has snowed hard in Jackson for 37 straight hours with no let up, and no glimpses of sun. Today it was DEEEP at the Village, with Rock Springs Bowl again delivering the best lines of the day as well as terrain off Thunder early on. Going at it again tomorrow!

Headed to Snowbird!
Skied Jackson today. It started snowing hard about 7 a.m. and hasn’t let up since. The snowfall intensity actually has increased this evening. I’d say Jackson got at least a foot at the top of the mountain today (I was sinking to my thighs in places), and that should double by sometime tomorrow. I’m jealous about the conditions at Stevens. That’s like my second home mountain and I know how good it can be there.
That sounds epic! Crystal remained closed up top all day today and you know how that feels right? Like Thunder, Sublette and Tram being down. How are the Hobacks? Can you still feel the bumps underneath? coverage? Tomorrow will be deep but might be too deep for an early opening.
