Significant snowfall has blanketed the Andes mountains of Chile and Argentina. According to Powderquest this is the best start to a winter in South America in 15 years! This great winter pattern looks to continue at least for the next 7 days, with numerous storms lined up. Look at the storms barreling through Patagonia (southern Chile and southern Argentina) over the next 10 days:

The snow will pile up fast beginning on Friday for the southern Argentinian mountains (Patagonia), with the mountains of central Argentina and Chile seeing it ramp up on Saturday. By next Tuesday, several feet will have fallen at higher elevations. Check out the 5 day snowfall for Chile and Argentina below:

Resorts like Valle Nevado, Las Leñas, Cerro Bayo, and Cerro Catedral should see significant snow. Unfortunately, none of the South American ski resorts have announced openings at this time and Las Leñas has announced that they are not opening for the 2020 season due to COVID-19. The backcountry should be getting really good, as this snow will fall on a deep early season base. Remember to only venture into the backcountry if you have the proper experience, knowledge, gear and training.
Enjoy the snow!
