Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Northern New England and areas of southern Canada are going to grab some decent snowfall totals primarily late Friday to Saturday. Timing is good for opening lifts Saturday for some fresh New England Powder. Many Ski Areas are set to open this Friday! Snow will overspread New England focussing on northern and central resorts Friday night. W NW winds will produce good upslope flow over the Green Mountains producing higher amounts at resorts in the northern Vermont ranges. Stowe and Jay Peak may benefit from 9-14 inches by late Saturday night with snow showers continuing into Sunday (Sugarbush is a wildcard). Areas further south in Vermont should grab moderate snowfall (4-7). This includes central New Hampshire (N. Conway) however north on Interstate 89 towards Whaleback ( I skied there 40 years ago) could score higher amounts.
In Maine moderate snow is likely for Sunday River with perhaps slightly higher amounts further north (Sugarloaf)
Light snow is likely to spread south on Sunday into Monday for metro areas for CT, MA, RI, and NY. Some travel impacts are possible by Monday morning albeit snow will be very light.
Chase: Be in position for moderate snow by Saturday morning over northern Vermont (Opening chairs). Further south will see moderate snowfall (Central Vermont, NH and Maine). Southern regions of Canada in Quebec could score moderate to heavy snowfall. If you are chasing powder we are a big believer in snow tires so check out The Tire Rack for your best deals.
Below: You can see snow moving in late Friday night and deeper by Saturday morning over northern regions of New England. Moderate snow is spreading south. Lighter snows push south into metro areas of southern New England by Monday with light snow showers continuing up north.
Below: Cold temperatures will keep quality high so if your on a groomer with some fresh powdah it could ski really well.
