The week ahead looks very wet for Colorado with temperatures low enough for snow in the Denver Metro area by Thursday.  Light snow on Wednesday for the mountains will increase into Thursday and Friday with snow levels dropping to as low as 5500 feet.  The models don't agree with who ends up with the Mid May deepness with the GFS bullseye over Summit County and the Euro further south.   All mountain ranges of Colorado will be under the influence of a a very moist system that will peak mid to late this week.  Wolf Creek Pass, Summit County, Rabbit Ears Pass, Aspen, Leadville, Monarch Pass. and even the front range fooothills could get nailed this week.   Just when Powderchasers thought it was over it's happening!  Late Wenesday, Thursday and Friday all stand a chance of riding powder again!

Below:  University of Utah Plumes averaging 10-20 inches of snowfall with higher amounts possible through Friday.  These tend to be overdone, however at this time we are hopeful for the mean ranges of 10-15.   Its too far out to predict with accuracy  however very high cofidence of snowfall will be happening primarily Wednesday through Friday.  Peak may happen late Wednesday night into Thursday.

Below: Temps at 10K Wednesday morning are starting to cool to near freezing (10K) after a warm start to the week.

\"\"

Below: Temps by Thursday morning are cold enough for snowfall even in the Front Range foothills near Denver (-6C at 10K).

\"\"

Below: Total snowfall thorugh Friday (GFS- Optimist).  The Euro not shown has less snow for the I-70 corridor including Summit County and higher amounts south towards the 285 corridor extending to Monarch Pass.   These totals will change between now and Wednesday with a future post.
