Welcome our newest gold sponsor, High Mountain Heli, based in Jackson, Wyoming and Victor Idaho.

Highlights
* Cold Front over Washington State bringing snow to the southern Cascades on Monday
* Some moderate snow possible midweek for the northern Rockies and grazing the Sierra.
* Colder NW flow possible late week with snow for BC, Alberta, N. PNW, and Northern Rockies.
* New England snow Wednesday night-Thursday confined to northern areas.
Red Flags:
* Warming midweek for the PNW with higher odds of rain versus snow below 6800 feet.
* Extreme midweek SW winds for the Sierra, extending north into the Rockies.
* Snow totals midweek for the Rockies might stay below chase criteria.
Below: Jet stream for the next 7 days favors the PNW, Canada, and Northern Rockies. Low pressure (Blues) drives as far south as Wyoming midweek and again next weekend. (Map dates and days are in the upper right.) Period is from Monday (11/3 to Monday 11/10). New England is also in the hunt further north.

Short-term PNW
While the Rockies remain in a ridge of high pressure and warm temperatures, some colder air is overspreading Washington State on Monday, with snowfall picking up by late morning into Monday evening. Winds from the SW veering South can often sneak up some decent totals near Crystal.
Below: Snowfall is mainly confined to the southern Cascades of Washington on Monday AM-PM. My best estimate is 5-9 inches for Crystal and 1-3 inches for Mission Ridge and perhaps north to I-90 near Alpental or Stevens Pass. Snow levels remain low on Monday and start to rise on Tuesday into midweek.

Below: Spoiler Alert: 72-hour precipitation totals for the PNW ending Thursday mid-morning. The midweek storm is going to bring 1.5-2.5 inches of liquid (Rain/mix) midweek. Snow levels rise to near 7,000 feet midweek.

Midweek West- Rockies
Moisture from the PNW transitions to the Rockies and perhaps scraps into the Sierra by midweek. Snowfall will be confined to 7-8K and appears to stay in the 3-6 inch range.
Below 72-hour snowfall midweek favors the peaks of the PNW (High snow levels with rain likely below 6800 feet), Tetons (Light to moderate totals above 7,000 feet), and perhaps a tease in the higher elevations of the northern Sierra.

New England Pow?
Below: Moisture increases later Wednesday night into Thursday for the northern mountains of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Northern Maine Ski resorts and Quebec seem favored.

Below: Surface temps in New England will start warm (Rain or mixed precipitation early Wednesday night), migrating to near freezing and all snow by late Wednesday night/Thursday. The cold air stays in northern areas, while central and southern regions are above freezing.

Extended Pow
Colder air filters into the PNW and BC later this week, driving snow levels down and a return to snow. This will favor the Northern and central Cascades of Washington, BC, Alberta, Idaho, and the northern Rockies.
Below: 10K foot temps at -9C later this week favoring BC, Alberta, Washington Cascades, and extending into the northern Rockies by the weekend.

Below: Storm track late this week into the weekend, favoring snowfall for the regions below. The coldest air stays north of the arrow in Washington, BC, and the northern Rockies.

Below: PNW 24-hour snowfall ending Friday afternoon, November 7th. Some decent totals are noted for the central and northern Cascades, and western BC. Cold air will help drive better snow ratios.
